While on safari in the Maasai Mara in Kenya our guide got a call over the radio that one of the local lion pride's males had returned to the area and was crossing the plain. We drove over as fast as we could to see this big boy strutting across the plain between hundreds of zebras, antelope, impala, and giraffe all with their eyes fixated on him. The title "king of the jungle" proudly on display with all the other animals ready to flee at a moment's notice. He crossed the plain to the tree line, smelt the air and grass for a group of female lions that had been there the day before, then laid down in the shade, keeping an eye on everything that was happening on the plain, and making it seem like he was almost peering through us. I've never seen a creature this majestic and authoritative in the wild.
