1897 Shipwreck
This 9-minute exposure using multiple neutral density filters is all that remains of the Howard M. Middleton, built in 1882 in Camden, New Jersey. The ship left Philadelphia on August 2, 1897, with coal bound for Portland, Maine, but never made it to its destination. The remnants of the “Shipwreck of 1897” are still accessible today - over a century later - during low tide on Higgins Beach, Maine. Landscape photography certainly requires a mix of patience, technical skill, and the right conditions, but I like to take it to the next level with long exposure shots such as this one. Fortunately nature was cooperating that day and you can enjoy this beautiful production as a result!

Bio
I'm Brad Harrelson, a native Texan currently residing in Dallas -- although I spend a lot of time away traveling to various parts of the world to capture the beautiful images you see here. Prior to diving into photography full-time, I spent over a decade behind the lens doing fun projects and events, while wearing a superhero cape during the day as I worked in the humanitarian non-profit sector as a program manager.
Now that I am fully devoted to my passion I have been able to work with so many great people in one-on-one sessions rather than behind-the-scenes in an office environment -- and I LOVE IT! Plus, spending months abroad experiencing vastly different cultures while befriending locals and other travelers has been such a humbling and eye-opening experience to the world that exists beyond my usual circle of life. Life is about taking chances and I'm committed to continuing this adventure and hopefully meeting you one day in a foreign land or for a professional headshot session back home!
