The Golden Bridge

The hills outside of Da Nang, Vietnam were the scene of some of the most vicious fighting of the Vietnam War. One would never know it today as the scars of warfare have been replaced by a wondrous vision – that of a golden bridge supported by giant hands that spring out of the mountain and support those who cross it. I chose to photograph the Golden Bridge using a tripod and long exposure to blur the people and symbolize the constant movement, change, and unity of humanity as they traverse this surreal landscape and engage in the transformative act of travel. Just before I left, strange storm clouds began to build, and I captured one as it seemingly passed through the grasp of one massive hand.
