This significant photo was captured on the Cog Railway that ascends Pike's Peak in Colorado. At the time it was taken, this was the last portion of the 126 year-old railroad to be removed before undergoing complete renovation. This track has lifted millions of tourists from all across the world up the 14,000 feet ascent. Because it was the very top of Pike's Peak, there was only one type of living flower. Although this flower is not particularly pleasing to look at, I believe it shows the inward strength needed to survive in suffocating conditions and the beauty that still flows from such perseverance.
